John Dowdell

Something kept me up last night... the teacher I have for Mandarin is definitely committed, and I believe she does want us to succeed... it's just that the standard presentations seems to go against everything I've learned in user-interface testing in both software applications and websites.

I'm seeing the same thing in other language classes... one teacher uses "A" or "B" instead of "true" or "false", requiring another level of remapping... textbooks are arranged according to internal process pressures rather than through what's best for the reader... there are many examples of whatever the opposite of user-centered design is. No slight intended on anyone involved in such an effort....
