Amazing experience today. I had a rattan cane which I never really used... it just never felt right. This week I noticed that the tip was of a smaller harder rubber, and replaced it with a standard tip. Now the cane is great! I can't believe what a difference it makes. I was really responding to the connection with the ground, and it all changed due to less than a dollar's worth of rubber.
That Canemasters Rattan Cane is nice, by the way. It's exceptionally light, and they say it's strong. I'm tempted to buy a couple just to swat them around and see when they actually do break. The wood is natural and has lots of character. Plus it's finished with a laquer, varnish, tung oil or something... I took it out in the rain today, no problem. The hook is what they call "dojo style", very very open, so you can hook a training partner around the neck and throw them. Nice piece of wood though.
