Haven't been writing here. At the end of February I took a spill on a slippery hill, landed atop my leg, hyperextending and straining the quadriceps. After five weeks' recovery I reinjured, during one of my first navigations of heavy (and horrifyingly oblivious) pedestrian traffic. Now I'm at six weeks' recovery, and am getting pretty strong and flexible, but until I can dodge the braindead on the sidewalks again I won't feel comfortable out there.
As a result I haven't been outside much, and that's where I've done most of my book-studying... when reading inside I keep on wanting to take a nap. I've book-studied some, but not as much as I might have predicted.
Ear-training is where it's at now. I regularly have CCTV-4 on while working, usually in the background but a few times each day as the foreground of attention. When exercising or out walking I've got audio -- I've been getting much of the structural gist of the intermediate readers, even though I miss some of the vocabulary from not having read the textbook. It's a time of steady strengthening, not breakthroughs.
