I'm starting to understand this next phase better... current schedule is unfolding. I'm playing a lot of music now -- back to two sessions a day -- and am getting varied language study through audio drills while walking, books during odd moments, and background TV. A year ago I dropped from three music sessions a day down to one (if that) to focus on achievable short-term goals in Japanese, then Chinese and Hindi. Now there's a better balance between the two.
Some things I'm spending less time on -- baseball and the elections (obviously), current events and news in general, and the last few weeks I haven't been exercising as I had for the rest of this year.
For language resources, Penton's VocabuLearn is the biggest payoff right now... just listening over and over, trying to anticipate the phrases. The iPod runs a mixed playlist in three languages, so I'm moving from material to material. This type of work requires many repetitions. I need to conduct an inventory of what I have, then compare it to what's available in online stores... I need to get a full set of existing resources on the iPod. For reading, I'm usually carrying around a Hindi grammar... no investment right now in reading Chinese or Japanese, even though these are the biggest long-term goals, because I don't see an opportunity now for regular, sit-down study with pen and pad.
Music is interesting -- I'm rarely listening to anyone else now, and rarely even reading material, but am mostly calling songs back via memory and reworking them for feel, so that they feel like me.
I anticipate keeping something like this schedule through the turn of the seasons. Biggest concern right now is the relative lack of exercise.
